Biography

Dr. Lazar is a marine conservation biologist with expertise in ecology, population biology and conservation of large marine vertebrates. He holds PhD in Ecology from the University of Zagreb (Croatia), with post-graduate specialization in marine conservation biology from Duke University (U.S.). His research mostly focuses on ecology of large marine vertebrates, identification of critical habitats and population connectivity, and impacts of anthropogenic stressors in marine ecosystems. Dr. Lazar is professor at University of Pula (Croatia) and University of Primorska (Koper, Slovenia), and visiting professor at the University of Zagreb (Croatia).  He is associate editor of the journal Frontiers in Marine Science – section Marine Megafauna and member of expert groups of UNEP and IUCN.
