The Faculty of Natural Sciences in Pula (FPZ) is the foundation of development of natural and environmental sciences at the University. The scientific work of our experts and collaborators, oriented toward research of biodiversity and processes in the Adriatic Sea, human impact on marine ecosystems and finding new approaches in conservation and management of marine biological resources, forms the basis of our undergraduate university study programme Marine Science.

Today the lack of specialists in the field of sustainable, interdisciplinary management of the marine environment is recognized as one of the key challenges in the protection of complex sea ecosystems. Therefore, in cooperation with the Centre for Marine Research of the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Rovinj, we launched the undergraduate university study “Marine Science” in 2008, which today we deliver in a new and improved form.

Our interdisciplinary “Marine Science” programme is unique in the broader university environment and is designed for students with interest in marine biology, oceanography, biotechnology as well as sustainable management and protection of marine ecosystems.
